WHAT IS COLLEGE BATTLE?

College Battle is a giving participation competition for the Rice Annual Fund inspired by the competitive (and friendly!) spirit of Rice’s residential colleges.

HOW DO I HELP MY COLLEGE WIN?

Make a gift of any size between Feb. 28 and March 28 to be counted! The college with the greatest average giving participation among its alumni, parents and students wins $2,500 for its student budget (more than ever before!) and earns the respect and envy of all the other colleges.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF MY GIFT?

Your donation, regardless of its size, is a powerful expression of loyalty and a vote of confidence in Rice’s students, faculty and alumni. Your gift not only increases Rice’s giving participation rates, enhancing Rice’s visibility and reputation, but also provides vital current-use funding to strengthen the Rice experience. Last year, College Battle raised more than $500,000 for residential colleges, scholarships, campus life and more.

HOW IS STUDENT PARTICIPATION FACTORED INTO COLLEGE BATTLE?

Student results are based on "Jar Wars," a week-long giving competition in which students drop coins in their college's jar for positive points. For an added twist, students can "sabotage" competitors by dropping bills in the opposing colleges' jars for negative points. The top three colleges earn credit toward their college's overall participation score. Final results will be tallied March 28.
